Contact & community
AlaGator is a volunteer-run project mapping alligator sightings and migration across North Alabama and the Tennessee Valley. Here's how to reach us and get involved.
Email us
Questions, corrections, a sighting you can't submit through the form, or a note for wildlife officials or the press — email [email protected]. We read everything, though we're a small volunteer team, so replies may take a few days.
For a dangerous or urgent alligator situation, don't email us — call 911, or contact Alabama DCNR Wildlife & Freshwater Fisheries (North Alabama District 1: 256-353-2634 · District 2: 256-435-5422). This site is informational only and isn't monitored for emergencies.
Join the community on Discord
The best part of AlaGator isn't the map — it's the people watching the water. Our Discord is where neighbors compare sightings, work out where the gators are moving next, swap photos from the creek banks, and get a ping the moment a new sighting is confirmed.
Come talk migration patterns, share a photo, ask "is that really a gator?", or just follow along. Everyone's welcome — longtime paddlers, curious neighbors, and folks who just want to keep an eye on the water.
For researchers & organizations
Approved sightings (with approximate locations) are available as an RSS feed and a GeoJSON feed you're free to use. If your agency or group would like to collaborate, verify reports, or discuss data sharing, email [email protected].

Seen a gator? Report it here — photos and landmarks help us verify and map it. Please always observe from a safe distance and never approach, feed, or harass an alligator.
